Our path started in the investing world but it was watching our own family members thrive as entrepreneurs that lit a new spark. Inspired by their growth, we combined our investment expertise with their entrepreneurial grit to build a franchise organization rooted in family, community, and lasting success.

The journey begins

We set out on a mission to redefine the QSR landscape, and it all started with the acquisition of 10 Wendy's franchises, marking the beginning of our long-term investment journey. Our vision to create a new style of multi-unit franchise ownership with a management approach that brings humanity to the business was born long before.

Lala is a former public equity investor at Schonfeld Strategic Partners where he specialized in the restaurant sector. He also held investor positions at Green Owl Capital, First Atlantic Capital and J.P. Morgan, specializing in consumer and retail. Lala was a Fulbright scholarship recipient, graduating with distinction and Latin honors from Duke University and with an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Neal Wadhwa

Wadhwa is a former public equity investor at Candlestick Capital and Citadel, specializing in the restaurant sector. He’s also a former private equity investor at Highgate Capital and HIG Capital, and a former investment banker at Moelis & Company, specializing in hospitality, consumer and retail. Wadhwa holds a B.S. in Finance, Management and Entrepreneurship from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Matt Gunlock has 15 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry, the last five of which as Highgate’s General Counsel.Prior to joining Highgate, Matt was an attorney at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, where he focused on commercial real estate transactions, hospitality, and private equity.He holds a BS in Accounting, summa cum laude, from the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University and a JD from the William & Mary School of Law, where he graduated as the valedictorian of his class.

As a client advocate, Ken has the ultimate responsibility in delivering all aspects of commercial insurance customer service.Ken joined Lockton Dallas in July 2007 and his complex account experience comes from working with domestic and multinational Middle Market and Risk Management clients. During his 25-year career, Ken serviced many restaurant clients including Yum! Brands. Other notable clients include PepsiCo, Accor Hotels, Omnicom Group, United Rentals, Hubbell Inc., United Technologies, Stanley Works, GTE, American Airlines, BNSF Railway, Nokia, Alltel.

Rishi Dani

Rishi has over 15 years of experience advising large corporates on managing and hedging their exposure to interest rates via derivatives. Rishi started his career at J.P. Morgan, working on the team advising small businesses on hedging interest rates before moving to RBS and Nomura, where he helped corporates in the U.S. and Latin America manage interest rate and FX risk. Currently, in Toronto, he runs the Canada Corporates Interest Rate Derivatives team for CIBC. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Economics from Denison University in Ohio.
